What's new in Google Chrome 109

Google Chrome 109 is a new version of the Chrome browser that was released on January 10, 2023. It has many new features and improvements that make it easier and more enjoyable to use. Here are a few of the main changes and what they mean for you:

One of the big changes in Chrome 109 is something called "Tab Grouping." This feature lets you group tabs together and label them with different colors or labels. For example, if you're researching a project, you could group all the tabs related to that project together and label them "project." This makes it much easier to find and switch between different sets of tabs you have open, saving you time and effort.

Another change in Chrome 109 is called "Privacy Sandbox." This is a set of tools that allows websites to show you things like ads and videos without sharing your personal information. It gives you more control over your browsing data and stops websites from tracking your activity.

Also in Chrome 109 is "Picture-in-picture" (PiP) mode. This lets you watch videos in a small window while you continue browsing other websites. For example, if you're watching a cooking tutorial, you could have the video playing in a small window in the corner of your screen while you follow along with the recipe on another website.

Chrome 109 also has an improved search feature that gives you faster and more accurate results. Additionally, it now gives you suggestions for similar search queries that can help you find what you're looking for even quicker.

Another new feature is "Google Lens." This is a tool that can recognise objects in images and give you information about them. For example, if you hover over a picture of a famous building, Google Lens can tell you the name of the building and where it is located.

Lastly, Chrome has improved its performance and security. It includes a feature called "Site Isolation" which keeps different websites separated from each other, making it more secure. It has been optimised to use less memory and CPU, making it run faster and smoother.

In general, Chrome 109 has a lot of new features and improvements that make browsing the web more efficient, secure and enjoyable. Some of the changes are easy to use like the tab grouping and picture-in-picture feature, others are more technical and behind the scene, such as the improved security and performance but all of them are aimed to enhance the user experience.
